If I ever got a text like this I would have to return the 1337 speak favor with a punch in the face.

I am all jittery and need to meet up with you tonight after my parents think i am asleep. Can you meet me at Bojangle’s at midnight just for a few minutes? I just need a little and I can pay you back on Monday, I promise.”

Erik, who is living with liver cancer, has always wanted to be a superhero. On Thursday, the regional chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation granted him that wish with an elaborate event that involved hundreds of volunteers in Bellevue and Seattle.
…
Erik got into his red-and-blue superhero costume, and called on the powers of Moonshine Maid, who owns a DeLorean sports car. For good measure, more than 20 motorcycle officers from the Bellevue Police Department and King County and Snohomish sheriff’s offices escorted Electron Boy to Seattle.
“They shut down 405 — they shut down I-90,” marveled Moonshine Maid, aka Misty Peterson. “I thought it would just be me, in the car.”
…
Seattle City Councilwoman Sally Bagshaw stepped forward with a key to the city and a proclamation that Thursday was Electron Boy Day. Afterward, Erik posed for the TV cameras, flexed his muscles and spent some time astride a Bellevue police motorcycle.

An Australian man built up so much static electricity in his clothes as he walked that he burned carpets, melted plastic and sparked a mass evacuation.
Frank Clewer, of the western Victorian city of Warrnambool, was wearing a synthetic nylon jacket and a woollen shirt when he went for a job interview.
As he walked into the building, the carpet ignited from the 40,000 volts of static electricity that had built up.

Soo if you haven’t been following this whole wikiLeaks saga, a while back ago wikileaks got hold of a video which the US government did not want them having. Some members were detained and a lot of drama ensued via their twitter where they suddenly stopped posting for several hours drawing some concern. Well today they finally released their video.
http://wikileaks.org/
WikiLeaks has released a classified US military video depicting the indiscriminate slaying of over a dozen people in the Iraqi suburb of New Baghdad — including two Reuters news staff. Reuters has been trying to obtain the video through the Freedom of Information Act, without success since the time of the attack. The video, shot from an Apache helicopter gun-site, clearly shows the unprovoked slaying of a wounded Reuters employee and his rescuers. Two young children involved in the rescue were also seriously wounded. For further information please visit the special project website www.collateralmurder.com.

EDIT / UPDATE:
Another great post from reddit explaining military opinion (individual, not government)
http://tiny.cc/i5xpf
TL;DR: I’m military and been right over that neighborhood at a different time; the video may be disturbing but doesn’t strike me as unjustifiable. The coverup is what we should save our real vitriol for. I know some of you will immediately dismiss this as you view everyone in the military as inherently evil. I find that silly. (There are also people who think I can do no wrong because I AM and I find that dangerous). Give it a read anyway
Read more from the link above.
EDIT / UPDATE 2: Now on CNN.

An Australian man with an extremely rare blood type has saved the lives of more than 2 million babies, including his own grandson, in his 56 years of blood donations, according to a published report.
James Harrison, 74, has made 984 blood donations that contain an antibody that stops babies from dying from Rhesus disease, a severe form of anemia, the Daily Mail reported.
